AMPP 2026 was another standout year for the National Corrosion and Materials Reliability Lab (NCMRL)!
This year’s conference was practically in our own backyard at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, and NCMRL showed up in a big way. We brought an impressive 12 speakers to workshop ideas, share research, and present projects with peers from industry and academia.
You could definitely spot us in the crowd thanks to our new maroon lab uniform tops. More than a few members heard Aggie whoops echoing through the convention center and crossed paths with plenty of familiar faces sporting Aggie rings. Talk about a strong showing!
Our team wasn’t just busy presenting research, exploring the conference floor, and taking full advantage of the free headshot booth. Two of our own postdocs, Ulises Martin Diaz and Atzin Ferrel Alvarez, also served at the poster judging station, where they had the chance to meet impressive students from universities across the United States and around the world.

We also want to give a special congratulations to first-year graduate students Rebecca Crow and Brooke Bond, who were recognized at the inaugural Ultimate Inspector Challenge as rising talent in the field of coating and corrosion inspection.

To cap off a successful week, the group gathered for a hearty hot pot dinner, a first-time experience for some. We made the most of it too, going back for three full rounds of the menu. At least it was all-you-can-eat!
It was great to reconnect with old friends, meet new ones, and represent NCMRL at another fantastic conference. Keep an eye out for us in Columbus in 2027!
